Accessibility
The following programs were specifically designed to provide persons with
disabilities assistance, solutions and training in the accessibility of products,
services, devices, and the environment:
CART assists children and adults with disabilities in leading more independent
lives through the use of assistive technology. Assistive technology is often the
tool which enables individuals with disabilities to participate more fully in
everyday activities at home, school, and work.
The Language and Culture Resource Center
works with Rancho staff, patients and their families to facilitate effective
communication among people from different cultural and language backgrounds.
The Center coordinates all requests for interpretation,
provides language and culture-based training for both bilingual staff and
caregivers, and oversees translation of patient education materials.
It also serves as a clearinghouse for cultural resources, lending
to patients periodicals and books in their native
languages, connecting both patients and caregivers with ethnic and cultural
resources in the community, and providing caregivers with cultural information
that will enhance the care of individual patients.
Rancho's model home showcases a variety of assistive technology solutions making
simple to complex self-care tasks accessible for those requiring conventional alternatives.
Commercially available products paired with universal design principals are used
to create an accessible living environment. Simple adaptations increase safety
and maintain a persons independence
